Pacific North West Dreamer
#21

Scott

Welcome. I am just up the road in Vancouver B.C. and am currently trying with Jake (Langley968) to set up a 968 gathering some evening in the Vancouver area. You'd be welcome to join us and see some of the local 968s.

There are at least 2 968s for sale now around Vancouver. One is owned by Rich Sandor, a fellow member of Porsche Club of America -Canada West Region, and another by Kevin, a friend of Rich's.

However, there are not many 968s in this area so response to our invitations has been underwhelming. We may be forced to include 944 owners to get enough people for the gathering.

I bought my 968 in Seattle a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. I drive it to work unless there is frost, and do a couple of DE days annually and am now doing Autocrosses as well. The 968 is a blast in all these applications.

I keep thinking about 'upgrading' to a 964 or a 993. But then I go for a ride in my 968 on some of my favourite north shore roads and come home with such a big smile that it makes me wonder why I would spend more to get less.

I'm in for a Vancouver area 968 get together one evening. I'm in West Van.
Also work too much, so I'd need some advance notice to schedule it in.

I'd be up for a 968 drive and gathering one weekend during the summer. I am in North Vancouver. Perhaps an early morning drive down to Squamish or up Cyprus Mountain.

I am reading mrayner's post on my iPhone at a KOA in Hinton, AB.
I am game for a local 968 get together. For me it would have to be a saturday or a Monday holiday. BBC (Bob's Breakfast Club) runs on Saturday mornings and most times we run to Squamish. We could try and get the 968'ers to show up for the BBC or we can try a different day. If we go for a different day, we may want to try and give the 968'ers in the Pacific North West region a "heads up".

Scott, find & buy a cabriolet. My '94 sits in the garage all winter, but when it quits raining in Portland there is nothing more fun than putting the top down and hitting the back roads around here. I had to fly to L.A. to get it, but it was worth the trip. It's a little heavier than a coupe, but the performance difference is negligible and you'd never notice. You can autocross a cab but you can't do HPDE without a rollbar installed, which I've decided isn't worth the wear & tear HPDE can produce so I just grin and drive and leave the racing dreams to the youngsters out there. I'm glad you found the Forum, just about anything you want to know is here on the site. Welcome!
