Hi Mike.  I'm another '93 Cab owner from the left coast.   Wonderfully unique cars.  Enjoy!

Thanks all. I had previously been working on Sunbeam Alpines and an MGB, but had a mid-life crisis in 2020 and ordered a 992, which frankly is too much car for my local roads, so I was looking for 993 as a hobby, but, golly-gee, those are held dearly. I wanted something to drive and not worry about it.

Picked up a local 968 after seeing it on a lightly trafficked Facebook group. After sitting for 10 years and the owner had taken it to a local Porsche dealer and told them to make it roadworthy. All the necessary belts, water pump, DME, tires, new calipers, new gas tank …etc - and a $13K service bill - all had been done, 2 weeks ago. The interior is a little rough (the owners adult son had tried and stopped mid project installing a stereo, but most of the parts are there), will need to recover/paint/replace faded vinyl panels, and do a radio and sundry other stuff - but the car is absolutely driveable. And crawling over it, the quality of construction is amazing compared to the late 60s British stuff.

Pointers on interior appreciated.

Excited to get started.

Ah yes, LBCs.   We recently moved and the parking situation is far more amenable to two cars as opposed to the three we had.   The Highlander Hybrid is the DD.  So I had to choose between the 968 and a ‘58 Triumph TR3.    The Triumph was a gorgeous car that received smiles wherever I went.   But compared to the 968 it was a crude 4-wheel motorcycle.   The thought of driving it a couple of hundred miles made me cringe, whereas a road trip in the Porsche is a fun and comfortable experience.   And the 968 gets its share of smiles, too.   So the TR3 went and the 968 (a real car) stayed.
