Ordered an RS Barn Catback
#1

After almost a year of looking into exhausts I have finally decided to order the RS Barn Catback!

It really was a no brainer...RS Barn is the excepted leader and combined with the 15% discount and favourable exhange rate I am able to bring this exhaust into the Netherlands for half the price of the supersprint and cargraphic systems.

No I just have to wait for it to arrive!

Please make sure its on by Saturday Obviously I am curious at the sounds level (and any performance improvement).

If you're quick and buy one as well, we could probably share shipping and save on that cost....then we can mount them at Frank's at the next KZ.

I really wish I could! Need to save up unfortunately ...I am aiming for the spring to buy a new exhaust. Pity cause I get discount on FedEx shipments...

What's the total cost, do you replace the whole system from back to front?

I am only getting a cat back, I still need to be sold on the header. According to the guys from Porsche Performance the headers don't add much in street driving, but are great on tracks with long straights. Looking at the amount of track 968s they prepare, I think they know what thy are talking about.

I am paying 480 Euro for the RS Barn unit, supersprint is over a 1000 and cargrpahic too. So this is a REALLY good deal.

Johann,
I must not have sent you dyno charts from Header. It adds tons of torque from 2500 to 4500. It builds power so quickly it feels as if flywheel is lighter. Good news is with cat back-you can add later and trade in stage 1 chip

Johannvb,

I have the RSB stage 2 chip, the RSB header, and full cat-back system with high flow catalytic converter installed on my 968. I started out by doing the airbox mod with K&N filter. I tried out several different performance chips and various exhausts with tips. I then went to the RSB stage 1 chip and added the full cat-back system and high flow catalytic converter. A couple of months later, I ordered the header with a stage 2 chip.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona where the weather can be very hot during summer (120+ F) and freezing cold in Flagstaff, Arizona during the winter. If you have ever made the drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff which I do often, you know it is quite a drive. Phoenix has a mean elevation of 1,117 feet (340 m) compared to Flagstaff at 7,000 feet (2,121 m) elevation. You can go as high as 12,633 feet (3,850 m) at Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona which is located about 10 miles (16 km) north of Flagstaff in Kachina Peaks Wilderness.

I could not be happier with the whole exhaust system, it has really improved my driving experience. The sound alone was worth the addition of the header not to mention the performance gains. The car just felt solid with a nice range of play. Since, I played with various other setups in exhaust first, I was really able to appreciate the final setup with the header added. It definitely breaths better and sounds better in my opinion.

Johan,

I have the RSB header, high flow catalystor and RSB stage 2 chip. But as my OEM cat-back was and still is in very good condition I didn't cange this rear end.
Very happy with torque and power improvment, but as for sound the complete RSB line is better I suppose.

Next time when we both participate again in a new meeting in Holland (or Belgium), you may try my car.

I still have to use your MAF-cleaner ...

OK, now I am sold on the header too! I promised my wife that I will not spend so much money on the 968 this year (Spent almost 10K on it last year ) So the header will have to wait until later this year.

This way I have something to look forward to!

Rudolf,

Is your header ceramic coated?

I agree, I have the RSBarn Header back set up.
Now, add the RSBarn lightweight flywheel and Kevlar disk, and tell me what you think.
I have this as well, couldn't be happier.

Johan,
No I did chose the normal header --> NO ceramic coating. Beside esthetics I didn't see advantages for the extra cost.

Your under hood temps are dramatically reduced and the header will last much longer. I think for 200.00 it's worth never changing your header again plus not baking your components is a very good thing (can you say Hall sensor - crispy!) All with IMHO

longer lifecycle and lower underhood temperature with a ceramic coating --> sure that's a nice theory, but I'm sceptical about those theory(s)

I tend to agree. Won't the heat shield accomplish the same thing for a fraction of the cost? And who ever heard of a header wearing out?

headers do wear out - there are a lot of factors involved, but the constant and heating and cooling does take its toll

ceramic coating does help scavenging - it contains the heat much better than without - the under hood temps don't change all that much, but the heat soak period does

all of this is well documented though, and can be found with a quick google search

he's around - he doesn't get to PMs very much, and can be a bit slow on email - that happens when you are swamped with 968s all over your shop

have you tried calling?

The East coast has just been hit with one of the worst blizzards this area has ever seen. It ranks #3. Many are without power and showed in.

I don't think Pete got it as bad but better believe he got it.
