#41

Well, I'll wait till the Dyno run the 20th of Feb. Really need to hear it.

Anyways, see and "hear" you then!

Ordered mine today. I had planned to make my own but now I need to drop the rear stock exhaust in order to change all bushings in the rear and figured I might as well change the exhaust at the same time.

You will not regret this choice. This exhaust made me love my 968 instead of just liking it.

You should get the headers as well.

I plan to get the sc and it is not compatible with the header, otherwise I surely would.

Changed the exhaust today. The four bolts connecting the stock cat back to, duh!, the cat took some work to remove. They did not survive the operation, may they rest in peace.

Fitting the new parts was a pretty smooth deal. The pipe needed to be modified a bit in order to clear the Tarret sway but that was easily done with a hammer.

The test drive was a smokey ride, I actually believe that whatever resides inside the muffler caught fire, but eventually the smoke stopped so the problem is probably solved. The muffler however gets VERY warm but perhaps this is the nature of this exhaust.

Sounds good!

I got my RSBarn catback installed yesterday. Really sweet sound. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to this thread. It made getting the system a snap. Much appreciated.

So Pete is still selling this item? Having left 15 or so hp on the table with the SC I need to focus on the exhaust next. This is the right one correct?

the rs barn cat-back is not up to the task of the stage 3 sc. it was marginal with stage 1.

Waitaminnit. Should I be upgrading my exhaust?! Curse you Gear Acquisition Syndrome! There has *got* to be a support group somewhere for this...

lol - i spoke to dynamax, and they pointed me to their website, which clearly shows that the muffler begins restricting at 193hp. on a supercharged engine, you are leaving about 15hp and 10 lb/ft on the table (yes, i tested it, but only on two cars, and with two muffler changes). besides that, you will likely blow the back end off of it, due to restriction. some of us already have.

that being said, i have not found anything else that sounds right, is quiet enough, and does not cost power

so, to answer your question, yes, but i don't know what to recommend yet. i have another muffler to test later this summer.

Good to know there might be something else to relieve us of robbed power. I have mine nicely banged up from the Paso run due to the poor angle it was installed at. Can't get it fixed anywhere near me as no one has a mandrel bender. I should bottom out and loose it about the time a good replacement is available

yeah - it's another one of those "now that you've done that, you need to do this" scenarios. i'll let everyone know if i find anything quiet enough. i have something in there now that isn't horrible, but it's still too loud for me. it does allow for the power though. the key is in the mandrel bending. press bending really screws things up. i'm almost there, but i need a quieter muffler, by about 15%

Yes I blew my tip off. Now its supposed to be firmly attached. but a 15hp loss. No wonder that Boss Mustang blew by me at the Glen!

I look forward to hearing what you come up with Flash. I will be needing a cat back for my SC car too.

Been running a B&B with Stage 3. How much am I leaving on the table?

probably nothing. that system flows well, which is why it has torque loss below 3.5k naturally aspirated. it's a bit loud, droney, and resonant for me, but if you can live with that, you're probably in good shape otherwise.

You may be surprised to hear this ( and perhaps even find it hard to believe ) but I think the SC has caused my catback note to be significantly quieter all around, including at WOT, and reducing that great sports car sound you call " drone ". And don't mean that it smoothed out the exhaust pipe rumble, I mean it's considerably quieter now. Most people would probably like those results, but I'm not really thrilled with losing that. Oh well, overall it's not a bad compromise :-)

Are we saying the both the pipe size and the muffler for the RS Barn cat back is inadequate?
