Oli Cooler hoses leaking ?! Replacement
#1

Hi Guys,

after my 968 was stored in a garage for a long time in Germany I brought it over to Ireland to enjoy 1 or 2 days of the Irish summer in my convertible

I had it serviced at a Porsche Center and then drove it over (1000 km) to Ireland. In my Garage then I noticed drips of oil on the floor.

I have the car since 2001 and the 968 was always dry. I am mechanically not gifted so I went to a local garage and the recommendation was to get new hoses to the oil cooler and replace the o-rings. The oil does not seem to come from the engine itself ...

1. Does this sound reasonable (I haven't heard of problems in this area before...)

2. Should I replace with Porsche parts or should I try to get steel hoses ?

3. Any other suggestions what to look for ?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Alex

Sounds about right, those hoses can leak. Although they're not a problematic area. One of mine has some seepage around it, but isn't dripping outright.

Make sure it's not the O rings that seal the hoses to the cooler. Also make sure it's not the power steering return hose, which is a notorious leaker. The hoses are big bucks and I don't think you have the option of having them repaired, since it's DIN hose and most of the repair places only have SAE.
