Should there be a heat shield for the heater hoses
#1

Checking to see which hoses I needed to replace today. Heater hoses looked good, until I looked at the bottom side. Lower had significant signs of heat stress. Couldn't find any ref. to a heat shield in this area. Is there usually one?

which heater hoses? the only shield i know of would be on a tiptronic, and it would only run right above the exhaust header. that's why i made my heat shield. it was to both reduce under hood temps, and provide some protection for the heater control valve and its hoses, as well as the hall sender above

I'm referring to the hoses that come out of the firewall (i.e. from the heater core) to the pipe above the header, and the other to the top of the head on the opposite side.

I do have a heat shield above the header in the front that shields the heater control valve, etc. in that area.

And, when you say your heat shield, is that one you sell.

yes, it's one i sell. when i saw the one on the tip (they put it there for the cooler lines to the trans) the light bulb went on and shazam!

there are now shots on my website - the installed shot is of the first version of the heat shield - the only difference is that in the second version i added some riveted on retaining straps to hold the 2000 degree heat barrier material in place because the glue on it is only good to 300 degrees. you can see that in the item shot
