Oil prices are really high?
#1

So, I always kept a case of oil around, of 1 Qt bottles. I recall I got a case at Costco (in the old days) or more recently at Autozone for about $20, maybe $25. This is just regular, not synthetic, and for various cars, not just the 968.

Now Costco carries only junk brands. Just stopped by Autozone. First of all they don't really carry cases anymore, everything in the display is the 1 qt and 5 qt bottles. The 1 qt seem to be in the $4.50 range, whereas I seem to recall about $2 or $2.50. And the 5 qt big bottles are all around $20.00. I asked if they don't have cases of quarts anymore, and he said sure, in the back. For a case of oil, they charge 12 times the individual bottle price, or they wanted $58 for a case of oil. So now you get 5 qts for around the same price as previously a whole case.

Of course all the 5 qt bottles come with a free oil filter, oh great, sounds like Gillette. Give away the oil filter and make your money on the oil.

Yikes, it seems like the price of oil has doubled while I wasn't watching!!! Why?
