I just wanted to put this out there so you MAKE SURE to keep your schedules clear. September 6, 2008 - it's a saturday. It's too perfect to do anything but take the car for a drive.



Details will be given as the date approaches, but what I have in mind is a good drive. Something scenic, twisty, and desolate. And of course, with a nice restaurant at the destination. Rain or shine, 9/6/8 is a day we should spend in our 968s. Well, this is a good while in the future so we'll see how things progress, and if nobody feels like driving instead we can... go driving anyway.

Mustards - Yountville



Bouchon - Yountville



Coles Steakhouse - Napa



Tra Vigna - St. Helena



Cindy's Backstreet Cafe - St. Helena



I have a committment that weekend, but your welcome to the restaurant recommendations. Mind you, with the possible exception of Mustards, these are not inexpensive places to eat, but nothing is up there unless your willing to eat a Micky D's.



I can also provide you with recommendations for the the Healdsburg area if tyour interested in Sonoma Co. BTW, I believe that Sonoma county is where Excellence does some of their "road work". We just need an insider there to tell what the route is.

regretfully it's a "no go" for me - too close to the Ortega run, and the only reason I may get a pass from the family for that one is because I'm going to my Godson's soccer tournament that Sunday in SoCal...



as for the Laundry.. been once, it was indeed very good but not THAT much beter than Michael Mina, Gary Danko,

Fleur de Lys, or Ame in S.F. which are less than 1/2 the price, so the only way I'll go again is on someone else's expense account <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Frankly I'd rather spend the minimum $ 700 or so ( you have to have at least one bottle of wine.. ) dinner for two price tag on some gadgets for the 968 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



from Chris' list, Tra Vigne is my favorite ( and I have eaten at most of the ones on the list - though not at Cindy's cafe yet ) , Auberge du Soleil is great as well, as is Julia's Kitchen at Copia, but both pricy.. so if you're looking for something really reasonable for a large party, Napa area is a bit tough.. Mustards might very well be the lowest priced one..relatively speaking. But there are good gourmet pizza places downtown Napa and off Trancas Rd , as well as one or two in Yountville's "historic" shopping center and in Sta Helena even though my memory fails me now in terms of the names of those restaurants ... must be old age .. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

silverado pizza used to be the best place - they did an amazing garlic pizza that would just make your mouth water - i lived there for a little over a year, and for the life of me can't remember much - been too long - there wasn't even a mall there then - not sure much i would remember is still there anyway
