Nor Cal/Socal Rendezvous - Paso Time Again
#81

Okay, it looks like I'll need to hitch a ride with someone.

Eric, do you still have an open seat? I'll bring my helmet.

I am out -- priorities... I need to be spending the day doing romantic stuff -- rather than fun stuff.

BTW, in case anyone needs cheap/free parts for a 944, this guys is 30 miles from Paso Robles: SLO craigslist

weenie - your priorities are screwed - this is romantic stuff, or it could be with very little effort - there is a very cute little B&B near there that is probably one of the most romantic spots i've ever stayed at

I wonder how much stuff I can stuff into my car. What should I bring this time... I guess all my clothes, valuables, and left over tools/parts. Yep, everything else I can live without for the time being.

Man, I gotta wake up early tomorrow.

Looks like we're down to Sean, me, Ron ( in the NSX ) and that's about it from up here, eh ?

I'll be at the Gilroy meeting point as planned ( Ernest will be also there with his 968 but has to go back, so no Paso trip for him ), but since I have not seen any emails or posts I'm not sure I'll see anyone else there ?

I'll sign off in about an hour, so absent any emails, regarding tomorrow am ; que sera, sera. See you guys either in Gilroy or in Paso !

I still have the open seat, but I'm going to visit and stay at my grandparents for the night, so you'll have to hitch a ride back down with someone else (i.e. back of a coupe ouch.)

I'm coming from the south but will be going north on the return, so I think I'm useless as a ride home for anyone.

Oh yeah, and the only room will be on the roof.

Thanks Bob for setting up a great day! It was good meeting everyone, and seeing your awesome cars. I usually hang out with the 944 crowd where my car is revered as a superior being, but today made me feel humbled... I need to polish my car and get the good wheels back on. And buy a new crest. And...

I especially enjoyed seeing so many nice colors at once (well, so many shades of blue). When I got home I looked at my mom's 968 (9th one I laid eyes on today) and absorbed the horizon blue. Heh, all 4 metallic blues in one day!

Oh yeah, and white is my new favorite color for a cab.

See you guys on the next run...

No doubt the "real" pictures will be posted soon, but in the meantime here's a so-so shot with a really old camera I even forgot was in my car until I went into the trunk space looking for something else, when we parked ..

As for wine, sorry, there's none left. We finished it all, so the winery had to shut down after this group's tasting session ended

For those of you who didn't come you missed out on some great conversation and comraderie. It was a fun day turning heads, eating great food and touring and tasting some good wine. Guess Flash is planning a Nor Cal/So Cal fun run through canyons in south Orange County culminating in a barbecue. Let's get some more 968s there! Thanks guys for a fun afternoon. It was good to meet you all.

i had a great time - no incidents with the constabulatory (regardless of the 100mph run home) - great to see everybody - hope everyone had a good time - i know the winery tour was a bit short - we caught them at a rather bad time, as they had a huge event there, but it was the last shot we had for months, so i hope it was ok for everyone

there are some good shots, and i am sure they will be up soon

yes, there will be a canyon run and bbq coming up very soon

I don't have a digital camera, just a 35mm. The film rolls are at walgreens getting developed. I'll scan them when I pick them up!

you guys with the non-digital cameras - sheesh - i suppose the engine is in the front of the car too

since kris had the bang zoom camera, i only took a cople of shots

the group of socal, after leaving woodland hills and dj having already gone on his way, now en route to pick up jared

parked at the paso robles inn

i think for anything else, you'll have to wait for kris and arash to get their shots developed

Sounds as if you all had a great time getting together in Paso. Hopefully, I won't have a conflict and I'll try and make the Canyon run and BBQ. My kid lives and works in LA so it will give me an excuse to check up on him.

Had a good time at the Sonoma Historic Races. Some very nice Porsches, including a couple of guys with Speedsters who just drove them to the track, put'em up on jack stands, changed the exhaust set-up , adjusted the carbs and went racing. And then there are the guys with the big transporters...... Don't know where they get the money.

There was a Polar Silver Coupe parked in the Porsche Corral on Sunday, does it belong to a forum member? Never did see who owned it.

I'll get pics up as soon as possible. I shot slides, which I have to drop off in hollywood for processing.

I got my car this evening, only to see that I will need take it right back for them to paint it all over again.

Oh no! I hope it's not too bad - screw ups at paint shops have so much potential to ruin one's day.

I got my photos today. They came out pretty well, but I should've bought 400 film instead of 300 or whatever I got. Everything is a tad too dark, but I'm sure some photoshopping will make it slightly better. I'm lazy today, but tomorrow I'll scan them in and post them unmodified. I only took like 24 pics.

I wish Dave G was still making those parts of his - seeing those grills and the trunk popper was really cool. And I don't know if anyone noticed, but only 2 of my 3rd-brake-light bulbs are still working.
