No start <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I am just getting started chasing this down....engine rolls but no spark to plugs. Is there anyone who could help me with some starting points on where to look first, or common faults. Last time I drove the car it ran fine.....I have not been useing the car much thru this winter. It has always started for me in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

pretty sure the dme relay tells the dme to turn on and start allowing spark



if you don't know it already, this is a VERY common problem - should always carry a spare

+1 on the DME relay. These are the same as a 964 or most any Porsche of the same era, maybe you can borrow a freinds for testing.

I already changed to 993.615.227.00

It cost 24 euro at the OPC.

Thanks I am aware of the dme relay (i have three) I know at least one is good it starts my 944 any thing different to suggest checking would be appreciated. Thanks again

Check the coil.

I had a car that would start if the temp was over 55 degrees and just crank if crank all day long if below.

The dme relay controls the fuel pump and injectors. With a no start I jump the dme pins to start the fuel pump.

We had the same thing happen with our 944, it was a bad Hall reference sensor at the back of the engine. The 944 had two of these sensors, while the 968 has only one back by the firewall. On the 944 the engine cranked, no fuel, no spark.
