New stitched dash.
#21

I would not want a shine on the dash, so the fact that they don't give a very good shine would be a plus for me.

well then, there ya go

i generally don't like a shine either, but having gotten sucked into this whole "concours" thing (trophies are addicting - i am seeking therapy for this) i started going for some shine in a few places - i'm starting to revert though, thank god

That's one kind of event I don't ever have to worry about. There's simply no way that I could use the car the way I do and then get it into concours condition. Mine is, and always will be, a "go" car, and not a "show" car.

OK guys, you have talked about 303 before and I am curious. Who makes 303 and is it available in the northeast? Seems like a good product, I just cannot find it in Mass.

I tend to start by brushing my dash with a soft horsehair brush and/or Paint brush (never used for anything else) for the vents ,etc. followed by Griot's Interior Cleaner Wipes. Once everything is cleaned, I use Griot's Vinyl & Rubber Dressing Wipes which is not silicone-based and has a UV inhibitor that creates a nice protective barrier. Griot's has great stuff and the wipes make everything so much simpler, no mess, no sprays and easy clean. My car gets a lot of sun here in Phoenix - "Valley of the Sun".

Glad you guys like the dash. FYI it's since been modified and cut down as the car has been progressing further and further from being a "street" car.

Alcantera is a synthetic material is it not? Takes care of the leather feeding problem and there is no way you are going to spray anything on it as it is like swade.

"...progressing further and further from being a "street" car." There's a serious understatement. Out of (not necessarily idle) curiosity, what have you done with all of the stuff you're removed?
In thinking about these comments, I remembered that I have a Wurth product called Cockpit Cleaner. I don't have access to it right now, but I'm pretty sure it claims to have UV protection quality. I'll just have to be more rigorous in its use.
I've heard that silicone is the bad buy here. And some of the products you mention have it, with Armor All being the worst. WURTH is probably the best..but not easy to find.

Alcantara is a synthetic suede material. Great little product

How does the alcantera hold up against the sun and heat. I really like this look on the dash. I went to a friend of mine that has an interior shop. He quoted me about $40 a yard and said i'd need about two to do the dash and the top of the door panels, plus labor. Please provide me with any experiences you had with this product.

thanks

I like Alcantara a lot, but I wonder if it wouldn't look funny in the car if it were just used on the dash. I would think that to have a nice, integrated look to the interior, you would need to have it on the seats, door panels, etc., in addition to the dash, like the GT3 RS. Just a thought...

Does anyone make Alcantara replacement seat covers for our cars? That would be nice and hold you in place in the seat better too.

SGUY,

If you don't get a respons to this, there's a great leather seat guy (Champagne Leather?) that does 928s and does a GREAT job. He may do 968s too.
