Dash (LED) light upgrade
#1

So anyway.... I was bored the other night, so I bought some blue LED's and upgraded my dash. I had only one light remaining anyway and it needed to be fixed. Me and a buddy had to do some modifications so no one could see the LED's stripe     . At first it was too bright I mean I would have to wear sun glasses at night bright, but one resistor later it was perfect......

Can you dim them for night driving or bad weather? Blue would not be a good color to maintain good night vision either. Bright gauges are nice but the real important action is outside the car.

Photos of the panel always turn out much brighter and with that glow look to them, exponentially more so than it actually is in real life.. I have the blue LEDs as well, and it has perfect intensity, the glow is moderate and not distracting at all, IMO. I also think the panel looks great, and the appearance of the numbers, needles, etc is very crisp compared to stock, even when the lights and the reflector plates were brand new. However, the factory dimmer now works only to reduce the light by a maximum of about 10% of its high point with LEDs there, so you can no longer fade them as you did the OE lights.

Yeah there not too bright and you can fade them out a bit, but if its too bright add a resistor. Either way its nice and it gave my 1994 968 a 2011 feel. I have seen a few modern cars like honda use blue led and volvo use red.
