Modified front bumper
#1

i was looking for another "front-look" so i modified a oem front- bumper.

First i bought a 997 GT3 and part it out <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Next was to modified the turnsignal into "real fitting"

now it´s done, take a look.

nice job on the turn signal fitting - that had to be some work for sure

i think the upper center opening would look better if it were closer in size to the lower opening, and the license plate has to go, but i like the direction you are headed - very interesting

how are the aerodynamics on the underside of the bumper cover? i know the OEM front apron plays a very large part in both controlling lift and promoting cooling - did you do anything to accommodate that?

the oem gt3 front is perfect for aerodyns underside, it´s large enough and fitting to the under-motor cover nearly perfect.

i´m just working on another bumper, this will be the complete 997 version with daylights and much more air-intake.

the turn signal is a hell of work, but if everything works i will sell them soon in a small series (max. 50)

the license plate here in germany is allways to big, but unfortunately we are not allowed to put it smaller in any way...

delete the plate altogether?

as for the under bumper stuff, i was just looking at the open area behind the lower ports and noting that there was nothing parallel to the ground to prevent lift and direct the air up to the radiator, which is what the OEM front apron does - i assume that either there is a piece that will go there, that just isn't installed yet, and just wondered what it looked like, or if the front lip was just an air dam with openings and there was a horizontal plate above that

Clearly you've never engaged a German gendarme. Keep the plate.

Wow......nice Looks like it doesn't extend the bumper too far out and seems it is not much lower than the original? Agree with Flash, the undertrays (batwing (front apron)?) needs to be in place for Aero and Cooling.

Manu, it's looking great!

btw: Looking at your car, are you from Bielefeld? I bought my 968 two years ago at Bielefeld.

Yes, i´m near Bielefeld, where did you buy your car, dealer or private (i know most of 968 around 100km...)

I´m now finally working on my new bumper, but first i´m off for holiday <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Can you post a side or 3/4 front view of the whole car? What wheels are you running there?

Hi Manu, I bought mine directly from the owner Mr. Martin Kimmel. Do you know him?

I really like what you did to the green car. Looks great!

Cheers
