The thing that drives me the most nutz right now is the fact that I own it yet it's 600 miles away!!!

Ironically, the neighbors (both hubby and wifey) are from 1 town over to the previous owner. They are going back for their 20 yr HS reunion, I'm just hitching along and paying for gas on the way out. Works out very well for me, except they have a dog they bring with them and I am allergic to dogs. I'll survive- just have to make sure I drive with the top down on the way back to get plenty of fresh air!

Your beautiful yellow 968 is my current desktop. My wife has already warned me twice that "Thou shall not covet another man's car". Wives don't always understand the obsession... or abide by Carpe Diem, especially if it costs money.

Bob- 2 words back at you- eternal damnation! Seriously though- racing is not my gig. No urge to do it. Has never really appealed to me to the point of not even wanting to check out a DE. Can't really explain it all too well.



Joe- Thanks. Will do. I plan on taking the camera with me and I hope to stop along some of the scenic areas on Rt 80 to get some nice shots of the leaves turning. Depending on timing, I should be able to stop here and there. Fingers crossed! Carpe Diem is right! I say that on the inside and beg like a mo'fo on the outside! Let's just say there were some clothing purchases this past weekend, and I do believe I am stopping at our favorite furniture gallery tomorrow or Wed to place an order for a mission-style chair to augment a particular room in the house. It's a win-win!

Need to see pics. I have been following this thread and am anxious to see the new addition.

Per your post:

Manual. Much faster without the Porsche rules.

Boot when going on the freeway when you can. It's better for the mechanism. For a fast "top-down" on the freeway off ramp, it is not a big deal.

YES. YES. YES. The difference is MAJOR. Plus no holes or mods that can't be reversed.

Buy whatever flash offers if it fits your driving style.

If you want the best enjoyment from your cab, buy it. I have a non OEM for WAY less. With a small modification it fits with flash's chassis stiffener.

Dump the cubbies and loose the weight. I mounted Porsche belts from a bone yard to accomodate my youngest son and a friend, should it be needed. 30 minute job for under $25.

Lemme see:



- I'll probably switch to manual operation for the top. The previous owner did experience bow breakage, and had it repaired. I'm not too keen on having it happen again.

- I will try to "boot" whenever possible so as to protect the top for as long as possible. In my old age, I am finding I am much more patient with these types of things so hopefully I will be able to stick with it.

- Already have the upper and lower bars on the coupe- they will be moved over to the cab. If I like them, they will stay. If not, they will be sold.

- Would probably be interested in the tonneau cover. Can't wait to see it.

- I hope to hold off on the windscreen until next year. I'll take Jim's suggestion of raising the windows up a few inches to hold me over.

- Cubbies = removed. Covert to seats so I can at least take my daughter out for short trips with the top down.



More pics to follow as I hope to take some on the way back. When I went there to look at the car, it was raining so not an opportune time for digital pictures.
