My new Slate Grey 968 M030 coupe
#1

Just picked up my 94 Slate Grey M030 Coupe that I found in the classifieds here. Needed balance shaft seals and the rear hatch glass resealed before I got it on the road, but since then it has been running great. Took it to paintless dent repair and had the 20-25 or so little dents taken out and it transformed the car!

Still have a few things to repair/replace but it's a great driver for now! I found out from Jeff968 over on RL that this car is 1 of 54 Slate Grey coupes, and the ONLY one with the M030 package. Still yet to be determined if it still has the LSD listed on the option sticker...

Happy to be an owner of this exclusive series!

Here's an article my friend Mike wrote about our trip to pick up the car if anyone's interested...

Fox, I think you were the first person I talked to about the 968 maybe 3 years back on IM. And I tried to convince my wife to let me buy your car when you listed it up, but NY is far away. Did you end up selling it?

Yeah, when I was shopping for a 968 seven years ago, I had my heart set on guards red or one of the blues, but when I saw the slate gray, I was really taken by it. A very stunning color on the 968.

Paintless Dent Repair = magic

Looks like a good buy. Here's how you tell if you have LSD. Bang a hard left turn from a dead stop at an intersection. If the tail swings wide and happy no LSD. If she digs hard and turns LSD.

Oh, and you must join us in the SoCal events. Believe it or not you'll be one of the more colorful entries around these parts. Lots of blacks, dark blues, and silver here (and the occasional GRed <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

It looks new. Nice catch!

If you want to know another way to tell if it has the LSD, jack up the rear and turn the driver's side rear tire counter-clockwise. It the other tire turns the same direction with it, you have LSD, although the correct term would be Torsen, if I remember correctly for a '94, if it's the factory installed diff., which would also not be a LSD. Anyone correct me if I have this wrong. I have the Guards Torque Biasing diff, and that's what it does if I jack the rear. Also lays rubber from both tires on a burn out. My open diff just smoked the right rear tire when I did that.

Either way, that car is sweet. Enjoy!

i also have the guards unit, and it indeed does that, but i don't think the factory torsen unit does

I'd be interested to know where you had your hatch sealed as well. Mine isn't making noise, but it is certainly de-laminating and I want to sort it out before I have the windows tinted.

Please let me know also as I have been looking for a place to have my hatch fix for a long time. It is delaminated every thing works fine no leaks but looks bad. This is the second hatch on my car as I brought an excellent used one and had it installed. Now the new(used one) is delaminating.

Yes, I hang out here as well. When your car was new it was equipped with option 220 LSD. It is one of the factory options.

yeah - he knew that and said so in the very first post - he just didn't know if it was actually in the car, regardless of the listing on the sticker

i suppose i'll know soon enough though

Here's my sticker... 030 & 220 are a good combo. [Image: rolleyes.gif]

I can take a few pictures tomorrow of the hatch reseal job. I got it done by R2 Racing up in Santa Clarita, but he subbed it out to another guy he works with.

Typically, he'll take the whole glass off (carefully) and re-seal it with all new glue. In my case, Pretty sure he only re-sealed all the way across the top as that was what was leaking on my car and the rest still had a good seal.

I've been hard pressed to get the tail to slide at all and have definitely pushed it on the left turns. It won't break free. I'm guessing it's still there. [Image: smile.gif]

Yes it is, you have the 09991 exclusive code because your car has the XD4 painted center caps.
