Thanks to everyone for all the information that you've all contributed about he DMF/clutch issue! This is quite an experienced forum, the best I've seen yet!
Since I drive my car every day, in traffic, in all kinds of weather (well, all the kinds we get in San Antonio) and I don't auto-x/DE the car, I've decided to go with a stock DMF and clutch kit.
My car has 160,000 miles on it and still has the original flywheel and clutch. (Yes, I have all the maint records to prove it) and from talking to my Porsche guru they said that the problem was only with the earlier ones. The possibility of my flywheel/clutch lasting till my car has 300,000 miles, is fine by me!
I called my part supplier and I can get the DMF, clutch kit and all the bolts $1,300. I don't think that's bad.
I realize this is not the decision for all of us, I just think I'm better off with the stock setup for my driving.

Hard to knock it when the first one lasted 160k miles...
FWIW, I replaced my clutch/flywheel with Porsche stock on my F-stock car. I have not had an issue through two PCA clubrace seasons now.
