My Cab Trunk Won't Open... HELP!!!!
#1

I got home from work and went to open the trunk to get my briefcase out. It won't open! I tried both the interior switch and the key. I hear the motor inside working, but it doesn't open. I tried pulling on the wire loop inside the vent in the driver's door sill, but it does nothing. The wire doesn't move at all. I need my briefcase in the morning. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Perhaps there's a way to open the little flaps from inside the cabin?

pull really hard. it takes a pretty good tug on that wire to open it.

if you still can't get in, you could get to the center hinge point of the seatbacks (you may have to remove the storage boxes), remove that plate so that the seatbacks are no longer attached there, and probably get into the trunk.

if you have a chassis brace in the car, you are in for a LOT more work

I brought it in to my mechanic right after court last Friday and asked if they had time or, if not, could give me any hints. Luckily they had some time. Got it open through the fold down seatbacks. One of the guys was skinny enough to crawl in. They told me the pin on the lock broke off. They installed a generic pin and ordered the Porsche pin from Germany. Suggested I leave the seatbacks down just in case until we can get the new pin in. Only charged me $150. Well worth it as I suspect it would have taken me all day Saturday to do it myself.

I have a similar problem with my trunk not opening with the key. It does open with the interior switch. I can see the microswitch is working (physically moving anyway) when I turn the key. But nothing happens. Any suggestions as to where to look first?

The trunk on my cab also does not open with the key (only with the interior switch). It has been like that since I bought it 3.5 years ago. Looking forward to someone replying to robinlarry's post...

Problem solved. Took advice from another post and realized the switch wasn't moving a sufficient amount to activate the release. Larry

I will take a look at mine tonight. From what you mention, it seems to have some adjustment. It never bothered me enough for me to fix it. Yet it would be handy to open the trunk without having to first insert the key in the ignition and then reach down to activate the switch.
