injured guy needs help with clutch
#1

About 6 weeks ago I separated both quadriceps tendons from the knees (yea, OWW) and have just now gotten into braces that give me enough freedom to be able to think about driving. Basically my legs are straight but I can bend both knees 30 degrees, which is less than it sounds. Since I moved the seat all the way back with special mounts after I bought my 968 I can fit behind the pedals and I don't have much trouble with the brake and the throttle but the clutch is a little iffy. I can press it to the floor but I can just barely get my foot onto it. Since I'm just on the edge if I could adjust out a even a little of the free play it would be a lot easier. But I'm concerned about whether if I don't have the spec free play it will upset the automatic adjustment mechanism, which is what I've seen before in other cars.

Does anybody have any specific experience with that or another idea that would keep the clutch 1/4 or 1/2 inch further away so I can smoothly get my left foot on it? Because of the handicap it's not so easy to get down there and look around. Does anybody know if I can easily pull off the rubber cover from the pedal?

I do know that you can pull the rubber cover off with no problem.

Best of luck...sounds challenging and not a lot of fun.

just be careful this time of year - that pedal can get slicker than deer guts on a doorknob without the rubber cover

you should be able to find some very thin, non slip material which comes with self-adhesive backing ( felt liner perhaps ? ) and use it as a replacement for the rubber cover for the time being..

I'll toss this in from parental experience. The kids skateboards have a non-skid top on them that would be perfect. It comes in a sheet and it's like sandpaper with a sticky back; they call it grip tape (at least in the colonies

My guess is that the non-skid tape will be too non-skid...but it probably can be gotten used to. Likely better than slippery.
