I think this is pretty common.
Mine was doing the same thing a year ago. It was intermittant, and if I gave the light a little push it would go back down.

I mentioned it on one of my visits to RS Barn, and was told it was a simple lubrication issue.
Unfortunately, I don't know exactly where it was sticking, or what type of lubricant they used, but it has worked perfectly ever since.

search on the topic - several threads on it. bottom line is to clean and lube with triflo.

the mechanisms are known to seize up, particularly on the east coast where the humidity is higher

generously lube all of the joints and linkages with Tri-Flow (not WD-40) - you may have to give it a nudge at first, until the lube penetrates

Mine was doing this as the hinges rust and stick. THe hinges are right at the front and difficult ot get ot but if you raise the headlight then turn off the power, pull out the lever in the engine bay that allows you to tip the lamp unit forward, then I initially sprayed WD40 towards the lower part of the cavity nearest the front of the car and radiator side, this eventually worked it loose, after that I applied spray white grease and all seems well now
