Headlight position
#1

Something is bothering me for quite some time. When my headlights are closed, one is flush with the body, where the other one is not.

I know there are several things you can adjust, but the manual isn't really clear. Or I probably missed it ;-)

So how can I make the headlight drop a bit lower so it sits flush like the other one? Anybody any ideas?

A rubber mallet should do the trick.

Ok, just kidding . What's tthe ( measured distance ) difference ? A couple of mm I presume ? Only asking because I want to check both of my cars and see if I might have the same thing , so at least you'll know if it's a " 968 norm " or truly an anomaly ..

Bulging, can you see that when you're driving or when you're outside of the car?

Both my cars : lights positioning is even ( all flush with the body ) . Hopefully there is an easy way of getting that stubborn light back to its proper position without having to remove the fender ;-) ..

There is a tie rod joint from the motor lever to the headlamp body. The basic adjustment is 103mm with a minimum of 97mm and a maximum of 111mm. Measured from ball joint center to ball joint center. Also lubricate them while you have them off. Play around with the adjustment until both are where you want them. Access is raising the lamps as if you are changing the headlamp bulb. Unfortunately my scanner is not working. If you have the workshop manual it is page 94-2. Mitch

There's maybe a 5 mm difference, enough to notice the difference, but only when you pay attention to it from outside the car.

Sigh, I was afraid it wasn't going to be a 'turn that screw a few times'-kinda job. I already took a look at the rod. Doesn't look like great fun to take it out without braking anything.

But what must be done must be done. Thanks folks.
