I am about to undertake paint repairs to my hardtop`s roof courtesy of a gravel truck`s uncovered load coming my way.

To do this I need to remove the L/R Roof Edge Strips (944 559 705/6 00) that run along the edge of the roof and continue down the side of the windscreen.

The reason I need to remove these is to allow the renewal of the rubber seals (944 559 707 00) that back the edge strips ie between edge strip and roof.

However at this point I'm not sure how to remove the edge strips and therefore would appreciate any advice on how they are attached and or removed.

Nobody has ever replaced a roof side trim rubber seal?

Start at the back and pry gently. It'll pop off. Straighten any clips that bent and push it back on when you're ready. The rubber strip threads in but it takes a little effort. Try not stretch it as it will shrink and leave a little sticking out at both ends until it has been there for a while just for the shrinkage thing.
