Group Buy on Porterfield R4-S pads
#1

i have an opportunity to arrange for a group buy on Porterfield R4-S pads - these would be for standard 968 calipers (not M030) - the standard 968 uses the same pad front and rear, so it takes 2 sets per car to do the whole car

i'm happy to do it - ONCE - there are some pretty specific conditions though to make this make sense

livermore performance sells them for $76 per axle (2 axles per car)

porterfield sells them directly at $86 per axle

if i round up enough guys for 20 sets, i can buy them at $66 per axle - i am working on a way around california sales tax right now, because right now i would have to add that, and it then gets awfully close to the same as livermore (almost $72)

i would still need to pack them up if i had to ship them, and of course you would have to bear the packing and shipping exspense, the same as if you bought them anywhere else - i can bring them with me to hershey though, and save that cost too

so, line up and let's see if we can make it happen - who wants them, and how many?

I'm in for 2 sets and will pick them up at Hershey.

If one of us non CA members were to organize it, would sales tax then be a mute point? If so, let me know if I can help.

it shouldn't come to that, but i'll let you know - i'm working on it - i have to file a new resale card anyway, so that would also remedy the situation

cool. I didnt really wanna do it anyway

I purchased a few items off ebay from companies that stipulated "if your a resident of XX sales tax will be applied". So often selling to ones outside of the state your operating in is a way to get around it.

PS I was joking about not doing it if you needed me.
PSS adding a PS kills the humor.

Anyone know about how long these pads generally last if you are not racing or autocrossing? I've gotten about 30K on my other DDs before they start nagging me for a new set. I like the price but I just put a set on, so these would be for the next time around...

OK!

me - 2 sets
daryl - 4 sets
968oz - 2 sets
banditc 2 sets
direwolf - 2 sets
rhudeboye - 2 sets
baz - 4 sets
stew - 2 sets

that's 20!

i think jimmywhisker is in too, but i'll wait to confirm - his might be part of the 4 of baz

i'll run this for a while longer, just to make sure we get everybody who want them, but as long as nobody is in a hurry, and all can wait until hershey, i'll let this stay open until about april 1, make the purchase and bring them out (except for the ones getting shipped) - sound good?
