Has anyone replaced the front grill. I have the replacement part, but no instructions. Does the front bumper cover have to come off? Seems like it should be held in by just a few clips and screws, but the old one doesn't seem to want to pop out so easily.

The grill does not just pop out, it is held in with about 15 tiny screws. I got most of them out, but couldn't get the last two on the far right as the radiator was getting in the way. I need a stubby screwdriver with a very thin point, which I don't have...will have to wait on this one a few days.

I have replaced the lower grille before. I think the only reasonable way to is remove the front bumper cover. It is a low risk job, just have to remove all the items in the cover (bumperettes, lights). Then there are some screws/bolts that hold it onto the car. Three on each side accessible high up in the wheel well, and then a few bolts in the middle right in front of the radiator. Only other detail is to carefully bend, and then rebend the tips of the black gasket which simply warp into the front of the wheel well.

Again, removing all those 2 dozen little screws is a giant pain, I never even tried without removing the bumper cover. Bumper cover R&R is a straight forward job, pretty low risk.

There is no need to remove the bumper cover for this. If you have the right screw driver, it's a 15 minute job to take off and replace. The last two screws on the right are the hardest, they aren't accessible unless you have a stubby screw driver with a thin point.
As for pics, not so easy to take them when doing this unless you have a lift, which I don't.

Finished replacing this yesterday, bumper does not need to come off. The only tool needed is a stubby thin point philips screwdriver. To get the last 2 screws on the far right, you just have to push the bumper out a little (do them last), it's flexible enough to push out a little so you can get the screwdriver in there. Like I said before, it's a 15 minute job and on a scale of 1-10 its a 0.5. FWIW, I bought the grill for $84 plus $12 shipping from rector porsche in CA.

Good to know that you don't technically have to remove the bumper cover to do this. I'm guessing it's a lot like not having to remove the steering wheel to get the instrument cluster out. Thanks for providing the info the info.
