Finally got the frame and glass re-attached. It was my Christmas present to myself. The owner of the glass company quoted me $200, said he had done a couple of them before. I asked a few questions about how it was done, felt comfortable with the answers, so I let them do the repair.
I was told it would need a whole day for the repair and curing of the adhesive, so I planned to leave it overnight. Just because I did not want to worry about the hardware and to help them out a bit,I removed the spoilers, wiper, and trim. I also disconnected the lifts.
I left it with them at 0800 Wed, called just before they closed to check. Glad I did, because the owner thought the car was one I used only occasionally, had a backup car, and he was about to call to see if he could let it sit til Mon. But he did finish that day,let it sit overnight and into the next day, put the hatch back on, and I took it home to let it sit til today. Just finished putting the small spoiler w/3rd brake light on,will wait for a bit more to replace big spioler.
The glass co. owner got in a bit over his head. He told me that it took 4 hrs just to remove frame. Then he had to repair the black band around the glass which is what the adhesive bonds to. He still charged what his quote was, guess it was a sort of Christmas present for me.
I think I need to do a small adjustment to the hatch, otherwise it fits well.
