I put an Optima Redtop in my previous coupe. Had it for 1 maybe 2 years. Seemed to be OK overall. I think the model number was SC35. I was lighter than a normal battery, but not by much. I should have also purchased a CTEK battery maintainer (CTEK 3000 or 3300, can't remember the model) as the lightweight sealed batteries really do well when they are "maintained" during non-driven periods.
The really lightweight Braille is for racing applications. I would not recommend putting it into a street 968. Braille does make versions that are probably suitable for the 968 and are still fairly light when compared to a normal battery. I think they make a 17 lb and a 21 lb version that probably have enough juice for regular 968s. Get a battery maintainer and use it.
Consider also Deka. From some research I did, either Deka makes Braille, Braille makes Deka, or someone else makes both. Deka offers (for all intensive purposes) identical batteries to Braille (not all models), and they are
significantly cheaper.
I was going to go with an Odyssey for the cab, but now I may rethink due to Jason's experience. The Odyssey model is the 925 IIRC.
I'll probably look at Deka now. Regardless, I'll be getting a maintainer with "permanent" connections.
(Can you tell I am a proponent of battery maintainers?!
