East Coast / Mid-Atlantic Gathering?
#1

Saw some interest in another thread for a mid-Atlantic gathering, maybe Annapolis, for either a full-up Celebration or just a local get together.

Several of us thought Annapolis would be a central spot and afford a nice weekend getaway for East Coasters (US and Canada), or just a fun day trip for the DC/VA/MD/Philly folks. It's a great town, lots to do, scenic and historic.

Comments? Timing? April - in conjunction with Hershey Swapmeet? Or May/June? (forget July/August unless you like outdoor saunas) Or if it's a full-up Celebration that needs more planning time, September and October are spectacular here....

I'm happy to assist someone who's done this before. Any volunteers to help or lead?

Thanks, Ralph. Somehow I missed the other thread. Hope to come to Hershey and add my 968 to the lineup since she's never been to one. I'll have to choose between the Celebration/Swap Meet and important sailing race that same weekend....argh!

In the meantime, the offer still stands for anyone who wants to come to Annapolis for a weekend afternoon get-together...DC/MD/VA/PA area folks, interested?

hmmm - if i do this right, maybe i can get out there too - i am planning on dragging the car from los angeles to hershey, and then afterward to the event in utah - i have a few days in between, and could take a jaunt up that way

lol - hmmm - this is turning out to be a bit of a long and involved cross country tour - perhaps i should sit down and figure out what this is going to entail before my other half disowns me

yeah, but i don't want to drive the car that far, and it's just not as fun to go to these things without the car

hopefully i can figure out a caravan along the way, or make stops to see people

I don't guess I'll get the award for driving the most miles this year. Coming from Ca. makes coming from Ala. just a short hop.

Not a hard sell to the boss? Be afraid, be very afraid.

I want to retain my storage cubbies, so the hacksaw and/or dremel will be necessary per the instructions. As the time gets closer, let me know what else I need to bring tool/materials wise and we'll do it. If the timing works out, perhaps we can save the shipping if you can bring it with you. I certainly don't need it by any specific date. Anyone else going to be in Hershey that ordered one?

I'd be up for an Annapolis GTG. I am just up the road in DE. There are some pretty decent Maryland roads in between as well...

I definitely have to get to Hershey this year as well. Too many 944 parts left in my garage from the last three cars.

I''ll be there as well. Nothing like a nice run down rt 50 ( a road so straight it just screams trouble)

It will be nice to compare notes on IMAs work in person w/ U Cosimo

Me too! Annapolis is fine by me...any tentative dates? I remember seeing a post from Jay on the Hershey thread, but no mention of firm dates for us Mid-Atlantic folks.

Rhudeboy, I got nailed many years ago in my Miata doing around 90 or so on Rt 50 just outside the Beltway, so yes, trouble it is!

Count me in for the GTG as well. I'm about an hour south of Annapolis, in Calvert County.

I'm thinking a post Hershey event would be good. I too like the idea of a fun run and picnic and for those with a little bit of a drive, could perhaps do an overnight thing. I'd be glad to help out in whatever way. I could also possibly host here at my office...plenty of parking and could probably put together a nice drive through Virginia roads...there is a brand new hotel within walking distance of my shop. Keep the ideas coming. Jay, what was the deal last year with Porsche and insurance and stuff? I know you and Pete had some fallout...PM if you want.
