Hi Darryl,
I will try to be as politically correct as possible with this response.
In order to hold a PCA sponsored event you must properly insure the event and have each driver and passenger sign waivers before participating. Pete and I were unwilling to go to the effort since the stipend offered would not really help to defray expenses. We felt that if each person was willing to be responsible for their own vehicle that there was no need to keep an umbrella policy with us as additonally insured. We were fortunate not to have any need to find out.
The bottom line is, Flash is bringing his car 3,500 miles East and I, for one, would like to see that Beast in motion!!!
It appears that as of next week I will have residences in both DC and PA, so it doesn't matter to me which place the event is held, I'm in...
Feel free to PM me...
Jay

Sorry guys, been preoccupied with the ice storm damage this week....without power for 3 days and 39 degrees in the house. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> How nice to have heat today.
Woo Hoo! Sounds like we have some critical mass...I counted 8 (Jay, Flash, Darryl, Joel, Cosimo, David, Bill, me. Huskydog lives here, so he'd be in) I know of one or two others and we can probably get a few more.
Ok, I'll bite, Jay! Annapolis is a great area for a spring drive. Let's plan something.
We could easily map out a course around Annapolis, maybe over the bridge on the Eastern shore (would be a nice mix of Rt 50 and backroads). Would be great to end up at a nice crab house, Cantler's in Annapolis is the best. Could also look into seeing if we could reserve space at City Dock for us...I think the Viper Club and Corvette Club have done that in the past. Fun to show off our babies. If not, we can find parking lots outside of the downtown area, like the high school or one of the hotels, or Quiet Waters Park on the South River.
What dates?
Weekend of May 19-20 looks fine. Just be aware that is the start of Commissioning Week at the Naval Academy. People will be coming into town for graduation week ceremonies starting that weekend, but I don't see anything big on the USNA schedule for Saturday or Sunday. (FYI, Blue Angels rehearsal is on Tuesday 5/22 and their show is on Wednesday.) Hotels may be booked for anyone wanting to stay overnight, so would want to reserve soon...but there's not that many of us, so shouldn't be a problem.
Weekend of May 12-13? Mother's Day weekend. Good excuse to have a weekend in Annapolis with your honey, but not good if you need to go to mom's.
May 5-6? Weekend after Hershey, too soon? Or just an extension of the fun?
Memorial Day weekend -- not so good.
June 2-3 -- Looks clear.
Post a note and we'll get consensus.
Ciao,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
It's warming up to a steamy 35 degrees here in PA today (taking advatage by changing blown fuse for windshield wiper in the Miata and charging the 968s battery)..glad you have heat back, we were lucky not to lose power through our ice storm.
Glad you're on-board...LOL
My vote is May 18 -19, June 2-3 as a second...
Cantler's ROCKS! (Crab Claw in St Michael's is good too) Have gone way out of my way to have dinner there...
Regards,
Jay

Hi Flash,
Don't panic...I'm still working on a post celebration fun run in Bucks, even if its only 2 cars (and I suspect that we will have some other interested parties)...Maybe you should leave your car with me so that others who don't make it to celebration can view it at their leisure. I could even drive it to Annapolis for you. I'll return it at next years celebration..LOL

May 18-19 or June 2-3 sound good by me...any excuse for crabs! The more notice, the better, for me however due to a new weekend side business venture I am involved in.
Parking at City Dock would be cool and Cantler's gets my vote too! Been there, done that...although it's been a while.

I'd like to get in on this as well. It would be great to see others of us. Keep up on any further dates that may become solid.\

Ok, looks like either May 19-20 or June 2-3 in Annapolis. Last chance to vote on the dates!
I'm checking with the City of Annapolis folks about reserving parking spaces or using the park area at city dock. The mayor's office told me that the Ferrari Club had an event here last year. The city reserved parking places for them on West Street and they had their shindig at one of the restaurants there (Lemon Grass). We could do the same thing, or use spaces at City Dock area, which is more in the heart of town. Will also find out what dates are best for the city for the parking situation.
I'd like to get a sense of how many might participate....last time I counted, I had seven potentials: Jay, Darryl, Joel, Cosimo, David, Bill, me. Huskydog lives here, so I'm sure he's be in. Plus I think we have a few others in the area who might come out and play with us. So maybe 10-12 968's?
After we get the dates, we can flesh out an agenda and map out a nice drive in the area, possibly over to the Eastern Shore (St. Michaels or other) and back. Crabs at Cantlers in Annapolis, or in St. Michaels, depending on timing.
Please post a note if you want to come play with us, including your date preference and if you want to stay overnight, and if you have any suggestions. Also let me know who else wants to work with me on this since I'm new to the team. Thanks!
Cheers,
Kathy
