Ouch- what happens when you get cut off

Best of luck - seems like many insurance companies just say no initially, because the they know that a percentage of customers will not argue. I'm not in that business, but they probably make out like bandits that way, regardless of the legitimacy of the claim.

I have a recent comp for you to use with the Ins Co. if needed ---

I bought my 95 968 MO30 Manual Coupe (Black/Black, 54k miles) in October 2011 for $22k

Which is still in the shop after being rear ended... 9k worth of damage done by a girl on her phone in daddy's 3 series while I was sitting at a red light...

I immediately got on the phone with her ins company, and explained to the claims agent:

how rare the car is - particularly with # of cars sold in the US, the rarity of the suspension package, and the low mileage;

what I had just recently paid for it;

how much time, work and new parts I had just spent on it.

Luckily, her company accepted full blame without protest (they really couldn't otherwise),

and didn't give me any grief when I said that they'd be repairing the car back to factory spec regardless of price.

maybe off topic but has any one got American Collectors Insurance policy? If so do you recommend them? They are offering a reasonable price but I don't know how good they r. Thank you

What ever happened with the ins co and your coupe? Hope they are putting it all back to spec regardless of cost. I should e getting mine back from the shop this week (2+ months...)

At this point,it will almost be like getting in it for the first time all over again...

Crossing fingers that it will be sorted out, and without any lingering issues or after effects (aside from drop in value having previously had a clean bill of health!) - to that end, a little nervous but forward to testing it out to see if everything checks out.

I just bought a '93 968 and I'm thinking its under-insured at $10,000. That is basically what I paid but I don't think I can find another one like it easily. I'm wondering if my car got into a fender bender like the one here if it would be totaled by the insurance company. I'm very curios what the damage will cost on Anthony's car.

PVC, as I mentioned in an earlier post, my concern is that an insurance company will generally total a car when the damage exceeds 80% of the value. At $10,000 you would only need a small fender bender to exceed that mark. That is why I carry $25,000 stated value ($20,000 damage probably WOULD be a total).

JMHO,

Jay

Spoke to my agent today. American Collectors would cost me $358 yearly on an agreed amount to replace or fix. 5000 miles would be my yearly mileage limitation. I now pay $ 857,seems high, no mileage limitation and no agreed value. If I switched I would pay another $150 on my homeowners for taking the car off the coverage package. Rounding this out the new coverage saves me $250 with mileage restriction but with an agreed upon value. American has a large part of this market I'm told. Without trying and with a wet summer, I put 8000 miles on my first year. Part of course was novelty with a new car. Do I want to drive less for this advantage. Probably not. Am I better off with American's coverage? Probably. Perhaps I need to get another car! Oh that's right, the garage is spawning new needs. Next time someone asks what they would sell their car for my price will be obscene! Lol

I got onto this thread late but it seems to have been left hanging - any updates/conclusion to your ordeal, Anthony?

Call your insurance company and find out what they have your car valued at. The market inventory right now is VERY light, especially for coupes. Only 5 or 6 on the market as of today...

I'm also curious what that damage ended up at.

I hope you can kick the bastard that done that in the nuts. I had a much smaller bump in the same region but mostly round the front sidelights. It really pisses you off. But, if it can be repaired to a high standard you will soon be back on the "what can I do next" merry-go -round we all seem to endure! I hope all turns out well for you.
