My driver door latch has been getting harder and harder to open. It seems that the external lever is not pulling the latch mechanism. It is worse (almost inop) when it is cold. Has anyone else run into this? It looks like the latch mechanism is just held in place with two screws.

Happened to me also. I was at my local Porsche shop and mentioned it. The owner grabbed a can of PB Blaster and shot some in the opening of the handle - if you pull the handle you will see it. Worked fine ever since.

I ran into the same problem with the pass door handle sticking. While I was in there changing the opening mechanism, it gave me a chance to change the door handle gaskets. It was such a PITA though. Just lube the crap out of the knuckle on the actuator, and it should be fine. No problems since.

Wow. A lot of the same experiences! I did do a search on "door latch" and found nothing. However, I will search again as well as try the lubricant through the handle opening. Thanks, guys!

I tried the PB Blaster method yesterday on the sticky passenger side handle and although it seemed to want to work, it didn't help right away. When I came in to the shop this morning, I tried it and low and behold, it works wonderfully! Needed some time to soak in and work it's way around everything.
Also, thanks for linking to the lock mechanism thread Cloud...this will be on my list when the door panel comes apart as the passenger side lock button doesn't go down nor does the blinking LED work.
