Removing pin in door handle
#1

Happy new year everyone.  I am replacing a broken door latch release lever on my drivers side door handle.  Are there any tricks to removing the pin which holds the lever in place?  I tried punching it out but the pot metal flange on the door handle unit just bent.  I bent it back in place but now fear that I will snap the flange off if I put too much pressure on it.

Thanks.

Hi AV, it's been many years but I have done this. I cannot remember exactly, but for sure no excessive force is required.

I think you remove the inner door panel.

Then loosen a couple of screws that will permit you to move the latch out from the door.

Then you release the clips that hold the door lever and cables in place, and from the outside have access to other parts of the mechanism.

I'm happy if someone else jumps in (Waylander?) but more importantly I wanted to stop you levering on your handle and breaking it.

Good luck Smile

Never had to do this job, and the handle is already off the car by the look of the photo

But I dont think there is any force required to remove the pin

Getting all the links back on may prove interesting, and dont cross thread the Allen bolt on refitting, very easy to do

I think I have a how to somewhere

Thanks for the input. Got the pin out.  A little PB Blaster and a soak overnight did the trick.
