Did Porsche ever make their own water pumps, or did someone else make it and OEM it into a Porsche-labeled box?

Don't believe so. They just made the expensive box.

Laso is one of the OEM brands...there may have been others throughout the years. You can source the Laso pump through WorldPac at most auto parts stores. You can also opt for a rebuilt one through many of the aftermarket parts sources (Pelican, Paragon, etc.)
