covercarft car cover
#1

Has anyone here any suggestions or experiences with exterior car covers?

I am looking at the Covercraft Weathershield HP which looks pretty good for external use.

There is also the Sunbrella which has good ratings but more expensive by $100

Is it worth the extra $ or does the Covercraft for $300.00 perform adequately?

thanks

John

sunbrella fabric is outstanding - we use that for our outdoor stuff - i can't begin to tell you good it is at weather and sun resistance

new home depot umbrellas - 1 year and they are faded and rotted - 6 years on sunbrella and they still look great

1 year on standard bed bath and beyond drapes - faded and mildewed - 1 year on sunbrealla looks like new

now i'm not sure how good this is for a car cover - if the fabric does not breathe, i would not leave it on the car in the weather for long - it will trap moisture mildew and ruin the paint underneath almost as bad as if it did breathe and you left it there

either way, don't leave a car under a cover in the rain

i have 2 covers for the 968

one is like a parachute material - seems to work fine as an overnight cover, though it lets more moisture through than the the one - it stays fairly clean though

the other one is the one that was available through the dealer - it works well, and holds out more moisture, but needs to be cleaned periodically

John,

I can't remember my brand but it was around the 300 mark and I think it was the Covercraft. I liked the material but was never really crazy about the fit even though it was supposed to be "custom". I'm not using it any longer, so please come by and we can test fit it. I'll pull my paperwork to see the actual brand/style/model number, etc.

Just to close the loop on this thread. I ended up going with the CoverKing car cover.

I ordered the custom fit model with mirror inserts and very happy with the results. It had an overall high rating in every metric, like water resistance, breathability, and so on.

I like the fit as well. Easy to put on and take off as well. I threw in some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Has anyone picked one up for use while parked in the garage? I have one from the PO that is very stiff and have been considering a flannel cover to keep the dust off when parked in the garage for a while.
