In regards to Griot's BOS Wax. I spritz Griot's "Spray Wax" on the dried BOS show wax to "lube" removal with a micro fiber cloth.



This process removes the BOS wax easily, adds a second layer of wax and produces fantastic results.



BTW, I've also gotten very nice results with the P21S line.

Klasse All In One. Goes on great with PC Orbital Polisher and does a great job on Guards Red. Different products will give different results depending on whether or not you have a single-stage paint (like mine) or two stage (with a clear coat).

It's a shame CR didn't test Klasse All In One (along with many others). We all have our favorite products, but without the sort of rigorous side-by-side testing CR did, it's really hard to draw objective conclusions as to which ones are really the best. I thought Griot's BOS was the be-all/end all wax (despite mysteriously becomming maddeningly difficult to remove of late), so I was amazed and intrigued by how poorly it did in CR's test. I wonder what would have been the outcome if CR had included all of our favorites in their test? Would the likes of Black Magic and Turtle Wax have bested such hallowed brands as Klasse, Mothers, Meguiars, and Zymol (wait a minute, they DID test Zymol <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )?

Well in the big waxtest of 2002 from GuruReports- overall reults top 4 of something like 48

1- Zaino

2- P21S

3- Klasse

4- Armor All Protective Barrier





Of course even Steve (one of the two guys who did the test) said don't let test results tell you what to use, use what you like and/or experiment on your own. Of course he doesn't say that on his site but over on autopia.org. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I like using Mothers 3-step..but i dont use the 3 step wax. I use the de-oxidzer and the polish, and get mothers carnuaba wax. I've also gotten great results with Turtle Wax Carnuaba Wax...especially on black cars.

I always spray just a little bit of the Speed Shine on the BoS wax to get it off. I will apply it to the car with the random orbital, then remove with a m/f cloth. It is very dependent on temp. I will do the whole car let it sit for about an hour and then go back and add another coat and then remove with the Speed Shine. Works GREAT!!

i HATE the griot's stuff - pain in the butt - the quick detail spray is the worst i've tried - however, i still keep a bottle in the M3 because it's small



as a lazy person when it comes to cleaning the car, i have tried countless different products, in search of one that doesn't take me all day, give me great protection, and a good shine, as well as hiding flaws - i find gold class to be pretty easy, and use it when i am doing a tear down and complete wax - i use something entirely different (that isn't available to the public) that goes on with a wet rag when i am in between those jobs



meguier's quick detail has been the easiest for quick jobs

I like the Mother's 3 step with Carnuba wax.



Mother's "Show Shine" is a much better quick detailer than either Griots or Meguier's

I actually like Griot's Speed Shine better than either of the big M brands. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I'm still using Klasse AIO topped with S100 with an occasional switch up on the topper but have been using Klasse AIO as my base coat for over a decade.

I've used a few different "quick detail" products (Griot's Speed Shine, Meguiar's, etc.), and can't say I can tell much difference between them. Maybe there's enough batch-to-batch variation within the brands to swamp out any major differences between the brands.



Since my car sits in the garage during the day all week, I don't have to wax it often, so my bottle of Griot's BOS will last me many years. So while I see from CU's test that it's far from the best wax available, I find that using some spray-on wax to help me get it off, and then using a the same spray-on wax (I use the top-rated one from CU's test) after each washing, keeps my car as shiny as I'll ever be able to tell, and well protected, with a minimum of fuss. Just my 2 cents...

I think the reasons BoS did not do that well was probably- it's a carnauba, Griot's is not super cheap and available in stores, and it can be a tough to get off with out spritizing a quick detailer on it. It actually shines very nicely and last pretty well in my experience. I do prefer others for easy of use.

FWIW started out using one grand blitz wax which was fine as far as it went. Tried Zymol cleaner/wax and hated it! Yuck. Smelled nice. "Natural" ingredients - but by god what a build-up. Clayed the car to get rid of it. After reading the CU reviews last year I got some Black Magic to try and so far so good. Easy on... not so easy off but with a microfiber towel and taking their advice that "speed not pressure" does the trick I'm happy.

Actually, CU's test rated each of the waxes in about eight different categories, and the Griot's only rated average for gloss, and was generally pretty average across the board. But unless you're doing a test as rigorous as CU's, comparing the different products side by side, I doubt anybody would really be able to tell the difference in quality of shine among any of the major waxes. Heck, I can't see any difference between the completion of the claying (is that a word?), and after the application of the wax. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

+ 1 on this. I've used practically everything on the market except for that insane wax that costs $ 300 + ( you see it advertised occasionally in supercar magazines ) and I can't really tell a significant difference in shine or longevity among any of the top eight or ten brands. Everytime I think

I find the holy grail of wax - latest I used is made by Malm and sold under Porsche's own label at dealers - I only realize it's the newness ( is this

a word <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ) of it that causes that impression but then in retrospect it is not that much different than the previous brand.

I have been using Klasse AIO for years now. Easy on and easy off... I have also been using the Klasse Acrylic Sealer (use only a tiny amount for the whole car) and than a coat of wax on top. The results are fantastic!! I just ran out of Pinnacle Soverign Wax and went to buy some more from Autogeek.com and got massive sticker shock. They really raised the price on it. So now I am thinking of trying P21S.



One last note, when I get a new car (or used car that is new to me...) I actually go through the following steps:



1. Clay the whole car, this removes all the crud that is on the paint.

2. Two coats of AIO, put the first coat on, wipe off right away and do it one more time.

3. A very thin coat of Klasse sealer

4. Wax.



Takes a while, but man...does the car just look brilliant!
