I'm not familiar with "cardetective.com" either, but I'll surely seek out and read that entire article. The link only takes you to the Chemical Guys page for ALL of their wax products, so I'm not even sure what they're recommending. I've used quite a few Chemical Guys products and still do. If you want the longest lasting, best protection, you want a sealer, not a wax. Most sealers are very slick and very shiny already but if you want more shine or a better shine on certain colored cars, you can always add a wax on top of your sealer.

A sealer needs to go on bare paint or in most cases bare clear coat as it forms a chemical bond with the surface, hence the extra durability. Putting a sealer over top of an existing wax will simply reduce it's longevity, but to answer your question, it will sit on top of the wax...just not last as long nor will it actually seal anything like it's supposed to.

Correct...you could also do a wash with Dawn or other dish washing liquid that will strip the existing wax or a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol after a wash. Either of those methods will pretty much ensure you're starting with "nothing". Then clay, polish, seal in that order. Topping with a wax is then optional or as necessary.
Shameless plug: I'm a big fan of the Adam's sealer, which is called "Machine Super Sealant" - very slick and shiny - but should be applied with a Porter Cable (or other random orbital) for best results. Thin and even is the key, especially on your dark colored car. Don't forget about the 968forums shopping cart discount if you want to place an Adams order online!

The "pink stuff" is usually what gets people hooked and is indeed their flagship product, but yes, everything else in the line is easily as good if not better than any of the competing products in each respective category. Adam's own personal philosophy is that he won't waste time developing a product if there is something already out there unless he can make his better enough to make it worth while. For example, the RaggTopp cleaner and protector for canvas tops...Adam's doesn't have a convertible top product since it wouldn't necessarily be better than RaggTopp. He understands that people will more than likely just keep buying RaggTopp and not necessarily his unless it's far superior. Since he hasn't come up with something superior, he chooses to not have that product in his lineup and focus R&D efforts on other items.
If there's ever an Adam's sponsored clinic close to you, you should definitely try to attend and you'll get to see the full product line in action. Or, hop on plane and come out to my place on the 17th! LOL!
