wheel cleaner products warning labels
#1

every single can of wheel cleaning spray ( any & all brands ) has a warning re preventing the solution from getting on painted calipers . if it can cause a problem on contact with the paint on the calipers, how the heck is that not also potentially harmful to the wheels finish ?

any recommendations for a brand that seems to work really well ?

I have the Adam's Detail Spray and that thing is pure liquid gold. No doubt the rest of the products are just as excellent.

Let me get that renewed for us......they've been doing some upgrades to the website and maybe the discount codes got lost in the shuffle! Thanks for the heads up!

If you get your wheels spotlessly clean then try coating them with 'Auto Finesse Mint Rims' wheel sealant. Its great stuff, brake dust just wipes of with standard car cleaning techniques. No hard graft involved. Result!

Iron-x removed some wicked decade long build up of cooked on brake dust on some 8hole merc wheels. Safe on paint. Good stuff. Ph of 7. Only etches the iron particles purple.

Any comment on how long it lasts? Whatever the dealer used on my wheels before I bought the car was fantastic, it lasted about a year/5,000 miles before the brake dust started to take more than a wipe with a sponge to remove, but they won't tell me what it was so I'm looking for a good alternative!

They say several months, even with heavy brake dust deposits. I've had this first coating on at least two months and it just wipes clean. I think its a bit cheaper than 4 years ago about £14 typically now via eBay etc.

Cool, I'll give that a go - sounds ideal for someone as 'attentive' as me when it comes to washing cars <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

If you can clean one wheel all over at a time, off the car then thoroughly dry it then apply the paste and buff off as instructed you will not be disappointed.
