palm tree test
#1

seems every time I take a picture of the cars after washing them, they're near palm trees ( of course it may have something to do with the fact that i have two palms right on my front lawn next to the driveway, lol ). so here are two pics of the cars with the trees' reflection on them, both have wax jobs that are approx six months old - the first photo is NXT wax, the second is Rejex. p.s. the second car is in front of a hotel, that's not my house :-) :-) p.p.s - you cant tell by these photos that one car is brilliant blue and one is greenish-grey, but trust me they're vastly different "live" . one more reason lighting plays tricks on you in photos, so never buy a car by pictures alone

lol, they might look even better if I would clay-bar the cars and/or use a mechanical buffer, neither method which I have ever have used. I just apply two coats of ( liquid ) wax, all with just the wipe-on, wipe-off elbow grease method . oh, and 24 hrs between before the second coat goes on.

No swirls that I could detect, but will look closer and let you know. But aren't swirls typically a result of orbital buffers, even the dual action ones ?

calling Darryl...calling Darryl .. - need a professional opinion to chime in on that question / theory

Can be , but just as often they can occur by using the wrong type of cloth to dry or not properly washing your car or whatever sponge(don't use) or MIT isn't properly rinsed during washing plus other dumb things. It doesn't take much to create swirls even when you think your doing the right things!

You prompted me to get my clay and lubricant out to start the red car but Liz came over and now we are sipping a nice Pinot! God bless her! Lol

drink enough pinot and guaranteed you won't notice any swirls on your car..you might swirl walking ( or crawling ) to the car though..

Rap,

I have a red car and I was to the point of getting estimates to have it resprayed. I didn't have the $$ to do that now, so I got a random orbital polisher and a couple tips from Daryl. I was shocked by how much better it looked after I was done. YMMV.

It is amazing. I'm constantly complimented and asked where I got the car painted. I just started claying the car last night and will detail the outside again. Using some of Darryl's suggestions for swirls. Hope to get off more than last time. Of course last time the car was in sorry shape

Detailing cars always produces interesting results. After creaming at DS pic's and finally getting my red car back I thought ok detail time. Carefully washed it, came inside and sprayed some griots speed shine to make sure it was clean. Then I clayed it as I reported previously. This morning I used adams orange swirl remover and was dumbfounded at how dirty the pad got. Next was a griots fine machine polish and again the result was a dirty pad though not quite as bad. Wiped it off and it looks as though the Orange haze has been removed. So I put a carnauba coat on and it looks great. Now mind you this was just the roof. The hood comes next although it looks great after the clay job. The hood has taken a beating this year and shows track use. Da it's a track car!

Amazing how much dirt came off with the swirl remover. Anyone care to explain this to me?
