clutch or something else?
#1

If I back the car up, leave it in reverse and then turn the car off, upon restarting, I can't get the shift lever out of reverse unless I REALLY pull on it. Even with the clutch in the car will sometime creep. If I shut the engine off it will come right out of reverse slick as snot on a rooster's lip. Backing up a bit and then pushing the clutch pedal doesn't help. I need to either shift the car into first before shutting it off or leave it in neutral with the parking brake on. New clutch 60K kilometers ago. New slave cylinder about 10K kilometers ago. Works great otherwise, no chatter, etc. Ideas? Cheap solutions are always welcome!

Here's a really cheap solution - after you back up, don't leave it in reverse.

mine will do it in first too

as i am an opponent of leaving the parking brake engaged unless the brakes are dead cool, i leave it in gear - i've already snapped the pin on them, and regretted it - also, i know about the out of round drum issue, and have suffered that one on other cars too - first and reverse ahve the best mechanical advantage, so it is safest in those gears

still, not sure why it hangs up sometimes and not others

It has happened to mine as well, but only when I put the weight of the car on the gears (is worse on an incline). When I park, I make it a habit of turning off the car and leaving my foot on the brake and clutch, putting it in first, pulling the parking brake, releasing the foot brake, and then releasing the clutch. Never happens when I follow the procedure. I leave it in first as an extra precaution.
