clean or replace trans oil filter/strainer
#1

Can the transmission oil filter/strainer be cleaned or do I have to replace it (part No. 944 307 110 00)? Is this done every 30k miles or every 60k miles?

I have a 94 Cabriolet w/104,000 miles, tiptronic. Love it!

Hi Nancy,

Here is a past post with some discussion on changing the fluid, although it doesn't directly address your question: http://www.968forums.com/index.php?showtopic=3660&hl=

How much is the new filter? As a gut feel, it seem like replacing a filter is better than trying to clean it.

The whole kits not much ($30?), I would suggest changing it as they really are not made to be "cleaned".

Always change it. The element will not be in a better condition when you clean it by yourselves. And I do not think the element could be opende without damaging it.
