Recommended Transaxle oil?
#1

Any insight into transaxle oil? I'd like to stick with something from the Redline product range. Car will be seeing a significant amount of track duty and probably a few thousand street miles this year. It's a 968 Manual transaxle with a factory limited slip. Thanks!

I'd use the redline 75w90 with the limited slip addative-I'm use the 75w90ns, since I don't have lsd. Good luck,

Steve

I changed to Swepco 201, from Redline 75W-90, it was an improvement with less noise , although it might be alittle more tricky to shift in cold weather.

Regarding its performance, i can vouch for it, in 2005 and in 2006 i did summer journey from London to Lisbon 1800 miles in 2 days mostly highway driving with temps up to 47 C on open top, quite the challenge to the car, and 2005 i was using Redline , halfway to the trip the gearbox was whine more present. In 2006 with Swepco much more quieter, and still performing good.

hope this helps

I have Swepco. My mechanic swears by it, he uses it in his Ferrari as well.

I've been thinking about using http://www.ricks2k.com/products/le607.php as I had really good experineces with it in a couple of other vehicles.

If you have a mid '93 and above LSD tranny, than you have the Torsen type diff. If this is the case you

only want to use the 75W-90 NS version. The non NS version has friction modifiers that are specifically for

clutch type diffs. These modifiers can make shifting a bit harsh...so NS is the best for shifting and for the Torsen diff.

Hope this helps.

Mobil1 75w-90 for me. Used to use Redline, but moved to Mobil1 last year. Has worked well for me. Can compare to Swepco.
