Tranny oil plug
#1

I want to change the tranny fluid. I went to remove the fill plug on the tranny's side and I couldn't get it to move, even using some penetrating oil. Am I doing something wring or is the plug just stuck? Any suggestions?

Thanks

They're very stubborn. Last time I did this I snapped my 10mm allen socket in 2. But I did coat the threads with anti seize when I reassembled it. Hopefully this does the trick for the next oil change.

use a breaker bar or equivalent on it, it will come off. make sure you turn right direction, counter clockwise.

OK, thanks for the advice. I will try it again tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.

try tightening it first to "wake" it

also, try hammering on the socket to "wake" it (be sure the allen is FULLY inserted)

You might also try a heat gun; that has helped loosen stubborn bolts for me on occasion. I don't think there's any risk of igniting anything in the area you're working. Good luck.
