Help with my tranny
#1

I mentioned it in another thread, but might get more feedback here. No event led to this, but I was going home one night and suddenly my 968 was very hard to get in 3rd gear. Also very hard to get out. No grinding ort anything, so the synchro appears to be doing it's job. It is only 3rd gear and the rest are as smooth as butter, just like always. Any ideas on a cheap fix? My mechanic suspects the tranny will have to come out.

If so, upgrades to consider? Already had the R&P replaced. I plan to do that clutch fork pivot shaft upgrade. Likely won't get a LSD unless I found a smoking deal on one in the next couple days. Anything else?

Thanks!

clutch fork is on the other end of the car at the clutch, but a good idea for sure

not much to upgrade in the trans without spending a lot of money - just go through all the bearings and make sure they are in great shape - i'd find a way to do the LSD if you can though - you'll probably kick yourself later for not doing it

you can check the nylon mid shaft piece on the linkages at the trans....but sounds like an internal problem...especially if all other gears work.

there is no gate so nothing should restrict gear selector except the trans shift mechanism itself. ...meaning that if nothing is in the way or bent, the only thing causing tough shifting is the internal shift mechanism

Taking it up to Nashville this weekend and will likely be 968'less for a couple weeks. On the plus side, Cal Turner is having his big event in Nashville this weekend, so I can go there and I'll have a chance to break in my new 993. Lemonade.
