Central Locking System Question
#1

My driver's door is having an issue. The central locking system is functional but the driver's door wont lock using the system (as in if I use the button or lock/unlock on the passenger side door). The passenger door operates normally, central button and drivers door both lock/unlock it with no problem. Im thinking it cant be an issue with the system. Could it be that the "door lock actuator" (central locking element: part number: 928 624 211 00) is dead or broken? or is there a pin that could have slipped off or something cheap and easy like a plastic linkage that might have broken? When I engage the central locking system from inside, I can hear the electrics working in the driver's door but the door does not lock. Any help would be appreciated, its at the shop now for work on the other door and I would like to get them both done.

Thanks!

I have just had my door apart fixing the window guide. When reassembling I ran into a small white sphere that clips onto and connects the acctuator arm to the actual lock toggle. This had become crispy over 15 years and didn't stay on properly after removing the one time. I had to melt some nylon with a soldering iron and build it up again. Maybe your has fallen off with this crispy problem?

I believe that part is an operating rod, PN 944-537-511-00 on page 804-06.

Dave, thats good to know, I have a feeling its something like that, It quit working when I accidentally tried to lock the door while it was open, so maybe that was enough to do the plastic thing in. Would you be able to ID it on the part diagram?

Its illustration 804-06 in the parts diagrams at Pelican Parts.

Thanks!

Also, thanks for the part number Tom. I was trying to get an image up to ID it. If thats the culprit, you saved me a lot of time!

Is that operating-rod plastic? I cant tell from the parts diagram.

Rob, either plastic or nylon. (Is nylon a plastic?)

Not very hard to replace either.

Awesome, I havent looked inside yet but Im nearly positive thats whats done it. I honestly dont know if nylon is a plastic....but its definitely more brittle than metal after 15 years, so Im not surprised if it quit.

thanks again for the help! Thats going to be way cheaper than the central locking element.

Part #2 one the diagram. The nylon end doesn't really show up in the drawing as it's facing away from you in the exploded view.
