I unscrew mine for the cove...but have wondered if there's a common (but better reception) replacement antenna "out there" that will screw in. For example something off another German car that's newer or?

FWIW my cover came with a grommet for just this purpose - locate the antenna & cut a hole & stick the grommet on. I never did it - it seemed like a chintzy solution - little stick-on grommet.
So when I use the cover (almost never) I just unscrew the antenna and throw it in the car.

Does someone have a source/price for a replacement antenna, mine is flat tore up from the PO putting the cover on and not having a grommit. I've searched Paragon and Pelican to no avail.
Never mind. After reading more of the search results I found the post by beachboy(?) about Euro Sport Accessories p/n 26432 and priced at $23.99.

Thanks all for the part reference at Euro Sport, I searched the usual parts sites as well, so it really help to have this part number here. Mine was all torn up also. In case you need one, they are on special at $14.95. For the deeply interested in the antenna subject, this link came up with some technical description of the antenna:

Did the glove box repair today as well. (Oh well, I'm not a racer <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> but knocking off the small stuff).
