the only "danger" below 100mph is aditional wear on the headliner and window - over 100mph i guess the fabic could start rustling which would accellerate that process, and if you were in manual mode, might lift it up, but i doubt it
what happens is that dirt and such get worked into the headliner, making it wear faster - also sunlight bleaches it out and does the same - the window get scratched as a result of the dirt getting down in there too
i use a towel lain down over the window (soon to be replaced with that pilow i keep seeing on one of the websites) - then i put the top down - this has kept my original window looking new - the boot cover has always been used, which has kept the top and headliner looking new
it's a pain in the butt, but it works - you can just drop the top - plenty of people do - of all the cars i've seen though that do that, their tops always look old and the windows are always accluded
they do pop up on ebay a lot - can the rivets be replaced on yours?
