Broken clutch preassure plate - driver error?
#1

Hello!

I did my first track meet 2 weeks ago and trashed the preassureplate of the clutch. Trying to understand if this is due to missing gears trying to be a racing driver or something that just happens. A couple of times I got third in instead of 5th at rather high revs of course. Engine was OK since one rather quickly notices the error engaging the clutch again. Could this be it?

not likely - more likely the little bushing at the bottom of the shifter is worn and lets it wobble a bit, and in an excited shift, you over push just enough

also, it should fall to the 3-4 slot at rest, and require only a straight forward push

the shifter should be dead vertical from left to right in nuetral, and there should also be an 85 degree inclusive angle of the shifter at the rear, relative to the ground - if this is out of adjustment, it can lead to slightly altered patterns
