Brake Lights suddenly out!
#1

Strange...

A mate told me the other day that my brake lights don't work! I think both must have gone at the same time but I'm amazed that I hadn't really notice this before (my girlfriend also drives the car and I could have sworn that I saw them go on a week ago).

I'm thinking that it's improbable that both brake lights went out at once. Maybe a fuse? Ideas? I can of course just replace the bulbs (part no.?) but I thought I'd ask here first.

cheers,

Most of the time the bulbs have the same duration of life.

First inspect them, than inspect the switch.

The bulbs are every day parts. You can buy them at every petrol station. They are also easy to replace.

It would not be surprising if the ground connection in the trunk has become "ungrounded" - these cars are notorious for such "minor" issues. The likelihood of a simultaneous failure of both bulbs is - well, not likely. IIRC, the connection is under the carpet on the left (driver's) side of the trunk by the light.

Most of the time one of the bulbs is already out of order but not noticed. Then the last one stops working and at that moment people begin to see it...

But yes our cars do have a bad reputation about grond connections.

Look for a plus 12 Volt.
