head lights won't go down
#1

Hi all,

When I put my head lights on, they went up, and turned on.

But when I turned them off, they went off, but did not go back down.

Is there a way to make them go back down manually.

Also, some one told me it might be the relay.

Is this hard to replace, and how do you replace it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Anthony

Easy enough. You'll find it in the fuse box under the hood. Description on bottom of cover will point out which one. P/N 944 618 205 00. Expect to pay a little over $100.

Hi all,

Where is a good place to buy a head light relay, to control the head lights to go up and down.

Also is it possible to manually move my headlights to the down position.

They are stuck in the up position.

Thanks for any help,

Hey Anthony,

Did you ever Purchase the relay and did it solve your problem?

I have a similar situation - mine are stuck in the up position also. I can crank them down by hand.

I have used Tri-Flow without any success but my lights seem to be locked in the up position and they don't seem to be stuck or sticking. They are up and not budging. So, I'm curious if they relay solves the problem - hate to spend the $100 if it doesn't solve the problem. Seems to have been rxter solution.

Carl,

I have not purchased the relay yet, but a mechanic told me a while back it was the relay.

I just do not have the extra money to purchase it yet.

But, maybe you could help me out.

I would like to lower them manually, but I can not seem to figure out how to do this.

Could you tell me how to do this. Or maybe send me a picture on what to do to crank them down.

I do not want to force them down.

If I do buy the relay I will let you know if it worked.

Yes, I did, but as stupid as it sounds, I still can not figure out how to do it.

I need a picture , video , or very explicit instructions on how to do it.

My wife is correct , when she tells me I am stupid.

So, help me if you can.

Thanks in advance,

I'm suffering something similar but only with the passenger side unit. Would a faulty relay lay at the root of this?

Just purchased the headlight motor relay p/n 94461820500 from Sunset @ $103 and it seems to have solved my " headlight stuck in the up position" problem.

I have a similar issue with my headlights remaining in the raised position.

My headlights will remain in the raised position if they have been on for awhile (20+ minutes or so).

When they stick in the raised position, they will lower once the car (or headlight?) cools down.

I can cycle them up and down just fine if I don’t leave them on for an extended time.

Sunset’s price for the relay is now $212 plus freight and I’m loath to buy one if there is another explanation for the car’s strange malady.

Has anyone heard of this kind of issue?

Try pulling and cleaning the contacts. Sometimes even pulling and plugging in the relay a couple of times will work.

Worth a try before spending $$$

You might also try a recycler for that relay, they don't fail that often such that a used one could be fine. But, try Jay's suggestion first. You could open the relay and clean the internal contacts also.
