I would disconnect the wires from the sender first. If it drops, it's the sender. If not, there's a short somewhere.

My 2 bits is on the oil pressure sending unit.

Yep have had it twice in 10 years. For me twice the sender. Even without rpm. Full pressure.. between first and second start for example. Zero when it stays longer than a night.

Bob, where in Ireland do you plan on locating? You'll have to find a Pub that you like and stick with it. Practice throwing darts so you won't look so bad when you are asked to join in on a game.
