Rear Hatch third brake light
#1

Over in the UK we weren't as lucky as you guys so the hatch with the inbuilt brake light under the spoiler wasn't available, however i've managed to pick one up.

It says it comes with the wiring loom, can anyone tell me where this connects?

Cheers

Andy

On my US spec car the plug is in the housing with the rear wiper motor

Per the wiring diagram in the workshop manual it ties into the wiring loom of the rear window wiper motor, as JTP observed. I'll see if I can send you that page.

actually having looked I can see where it plugs into, coming away from the boot/trunk light is the connector so this should be plug and play hopefully, will report back once fitted.

All fitted, certainly was plug and play........ but need a few new bulbs!

Anyone know what the bulbs are?

There was a bulb replacement kit ( all LEDs ) which was very popular so a lot of us have it , I just cannot remember where I bought mine, it's been too many years since I did that. I think maybe from Jaeger Engineering - if so, they might still sell that ? Do a search and see what comes up on that topic. Those LEDs last a looooooong time.

Just realized the LED kit was one of 968engineering.com ( good 'ole Dave G. ) products. Pity he closed shop. And one of the bulbs in my third brake panel is flickering also, wish I could buy another LED panel but does not seem anyone sells that, so guess I have to go with the regular bulbs replacement.

T286 bulbs. Led would be nice but would need some adaption.

Mates I replaced my T286 with single LED plug-n-play replacements from superbrightleds.com - 74 LED Bulb - 1 SMD LED Wedge Base. One of 'em has stopped working since I installed. But my third brake light is not water tight and can't find a replacement... so. But I've been very pleased with this replacement.
