Clutch High-Pressure Hose
#1

Is the high-pressure clutch hose in the 968, the one that goes from the back of the clutch master cylinder to the hard line behind the engine, the same part as that in the 944? Or is the part unique to the 968? I'd appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me.

The 944 hose can be used. See the text on the paragon site.

Quote:Fits 924S, 924T, 944, 944S, 944S2, 968*

*can be used for 968 with slight bending

The 968 hose is also listed at twice the price. I used the 944 version w/o difficulties.

That's really interesting, since I had to do slight bending to the hose I received to make it fit. I wonder if it was the 944-style hose. The cost was around $68 when I got it in December or so.

Thanks for the info!

When I replaced mine last month I used the 944 hose, I did have to bend it a little at the master cyl. fitting. It wasn't too difficult but I would recommend using some sort of rounded tool (like a plumbers pipe bending tool) just to be safe. I used a combination of a large round punch and a box end wrench to bend mine, took all of 2 min.

This is good stuff to know...wonder if we should start of list of no longer available parts and work arounds? I just ordered a new fuel hose and there wasn't one in the US or at 6 diff. distributors that I tried. I wonder if it's in short supply and soon will be NLA?

A list of this stuff would be nice.

The pictures are similar but the 968 hose has a right-angle bend at the clutch master cylinder, while the 944 part has a much gentler bend. Paragon's price was $35 for the 944 part and $66 for the 968 part. Although it is nearly twice the price of the 944 part, $66 is not prohibitively expensive. I'd get the 968 part in a flash if I needed it, instead of the 944 part.

However, it's good to know that you can use the 944 clutch hose in a pinch.
